ANNOUNCEMENTS
COLD WEATHER SHELTER ~ 2012 AUDREY ROBBINS HUMANITARIAN AWARD WINNER!!!!!
Congratulations to the all the amazing volunteers of the Cold Weather Shelter program. You are the winners of the 2012 Audrey Robbins Humanitarian Award for Volunteer Team of the Year. I wrote a nomination for the Cold Weather Shelter program this April and you all were selected to receive the award. I was just surprised at Grassroots with a visit from the staff of the Association of Community Services (ACS) along with a photographer and videographer (to document the shock on my face), balloons and cupcakes. The Audrey Robbins Humanitarian Awards Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, June 20th from 12:00 - 2:00pm at The Meeting House in Columbia. I would love to see as many coordinators and volunteers as possible representing the wonderful work that you and your congregation volunteers do every year. Here is a link to the ACS web site if you would like to get individual tickets or a whole table. http://www.acshoco.org/

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL ~ Volunteers Needed!
To give our teachers a much needed break, our
summer Sunday school schedule will be modified:
Beginning June 17:
· SS for children in K – 5th grade will be at the 9 am service only
· SS for pre-school children (ages 3 – 5 years), both services
· No Sunday school for middle & high school students.
So that we are able to offer these classes over the summer, volunteers are needed.
Please consider signing up for one of the following:
· Lead the preschool group (which entails watching a video and reading a story or other simple activity afterward)
· Teach our K-5th graders (DVD curriculum; all teaching materials will be provided).
This is an easy and fun way to serve! No preparation necessary! To volunteer, please look for the sign-up sheet at the foot of the stairs that leads down to the fellowship hall or contact Beth Jaczun at beth@l-lumc.org or 410-531-5653. Thank you!
