MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MARIE DEVAULT
A service of worship to celebrate the life of Marie DeVault will be held at LLUMC Saturday, February 18th at 11:00 am with a time of fellowship following in the Great Room.
A NOTE FROM MARIE’S FAMILY:
We are so thankful for our church family. We have received so many cards and so much support, and know that we have been in the prayers of many of our LLUMC friends. Thank you – to everyone. These tough times have been made much easier to get through by such thoughtfulness.
RED ENVELOPE PROJECT FUNDRAISER FOR YOUTH MISSION TRIP
Please stop by our Appalachia Service Project Display in the foyer. You will notice that the table has 144 numbered red envelopes on it. You are invited to take an envelope and fill it with the amount of money as indicated by its number. Please return the envelope to the red box on the table. Your contribution enables our team of 34 high school youth to travel to central Appalachia where they will spend a week working to make people’s homes warmer, safer and drier. Thank you for your generous support!
UMW MEETING, SUNDAY, MARCH 18, 6:00 PM
Bad weather and the Ravens playoff game played havoc with our scheduled meeting in January. It has been rescheduled as noted. We will be hearing Caroleann Myers who, among other things, is former District Secretary of Missions, Conference UMW President, and director of Carpenter’s Kitchen, who will talk on Women in Mission. Learn how and why women became involved in missions and how our gifts for missions are used. Take advantage of the opportunity to pledge towards UMW missions. Dessert and fellowship will follow the program.
SHOW YOUR CONNECTION TO LLUMC AND HELP SUPPORT MISSION TRIPS SPONSORED BY THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE!
We will be selling LLUMC aprons, grocery bags, insulated grocery bags, short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts and baseball hats during the month of March with delivery in April. Pre-orders will be taken Sunday mornings and payment must be made when pre-ordering. Information about color selections, prices, sizes, etc will be posted around the church and at the order table.
Questions? Please contact Carole Silberhorn or Loretta Anders.
SAVE THE DATE FOR REBUILDING TOGETHER HOWARD COUNTY - The next rebuild day is Saturday, April 28th. Mark your calendar and join us for a day of hard but very rewarding work as we help a fellow Howard Countian. Contact Steve Jaczun @ 410-531-2331or jaczun@yahoo.com.
TABLES OF 10 ~ FEBRUARY 25, 2012
What a great time everybody had in January. It was a great opportunity to enjoy good food and become better acquainted with church members. Our next dinner will be Sat Feb 25.
If you are planning to attend our February gatherings please contact Yvonne Lund at 410-313-8895/dnkmom@aol.com or Nance Wilson at 410-549-6609/fredlwilson@verizon.net by February 16 that you are planning to attend and whether or not you will be able to host.
SCRIP ORDERS
Scrip orders will be placed every month after the first Sunday of the month for delivery on the second Sunday. You can turn in an order anytime before then but I will be collecting orders on the First Sunday between services. If anybody needs an order at another time you can contact Carl Herrmann atKarenHerrmann2002@yahoo.com and make arrangements for a special order. Thank You for supporting this Fund Raiser, where you get all your money back to spend at the stores of your choice and the Church earns a few % on each order.

BAKE SALE DURING PANCAKE SUPPER ~ FEBRUARY 21
Donations of baked goods would be greatly appreciated. Some smaller items, such as “packs” of brownies, would be helpful. You may bring your donations by 4:30 pm (or when you come for the dinner). Please contact Dottie Titherington at 410-988-9332 for more information.
HAITI MISSION TRIP
A team of seven from LLUMC (ten total) is traveling to Haiti for 8 days in April. Leaving out the $3500 in project money and the cost of airfare, it costs about $55 to support a mission volunteer for a day’s service in Haiti. If you would be willing to sponsor a mission volunteer for a day or two or more, or a portion of a day, or any amount at all, please make your check payable to LLUMC and mark it for “Haiti”. Thanks to all who have already given. The offering from the cantata in December and those who have given already will care for about half of our project money. Thank you for supporting this ministry.
CARING COMMITTEE NEWS
Several things are going on in this area that you may or may not know about. Flowers are delivered each week from the altar to give a lift to someone. We thank the faithful folks who do this every week. College students are remembered at holidays. Some of you contributed on Sunday to send them candy for Valentine’s Day from the church. Thanks to the folks who remember our students. Some of our folks are doing some visiting, including taking communion to those who would like it each month on communion Sunday.
Here’s how you can help. Notify the church office or Jim Tolliver, chair of the caring committee, if you know of someone who is a shut in or is having a tough time and needs some care. Volunteer if you would be willing to take communion to people (training provided), visit with someone, write people notes, etc. Pray for people, either by joining the prayer group in the prayer room from 6-7 pm each Monday or by using the list provided in the WWW and the bulletin each week to pray whenever you can on your own.
LLUMC MEN’S FELLOWSHIP GROUP
We are very excited as we continue this new group on Wednesdays at 6:30 AM at the Bagel Bin. All men are invited to attend. This is an opportunity for men to spend time with one another to pray, freely share their concerns and hold one another accountable as men, husbands, fathers, grandfathers, etc. trying to walk in the faith. Please contact Dave Foley at dave@l-lumc.org or 410-292-6075 if you have any questions.
SNOW IS COMING!
Volunteers are needed to help clear snow from the sidewalks at LLUMC. We have a snow blower to handle the heavy snow; but, we need additional volunteers to ensure that the sidewalks into our building are always free of snow & ice. If you can help, please call Wayne Lund (410) 313-8895 cell: (443) 878-4610.
USHERS AND LITURGISTS NEEDED
Thank you to our ushers and liturgists who faithfully assist in worship each week. If you believe your ministry could be as an usher or liturgist also, we could use more helping hands. Please contact Susan Mather at smather617@aol.com or 410-531-1780 about volunteering for this ministry.
HOSPITALITY
Every Sunday after church there are snacks, drinks and coffee for everyone to enjoy in front of the Great Room. These are donated by a few different members of the church and Hospitality Committee. We are in need of others in the congregation to offer to help out. Please sign up using the red clipboard near the coffee in the hall for one service (or both) and provide any snacks you wish (except peanuts). Any questions? Call Yvonne Lund 410-313-8895.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING IS A SUPER SUCCESS!

In addition to the donations brought to church on Sunday, the youth canvassed the surrounding neighborhood and collected a total of 824 pounds of food! YOUR USED INK CARTRIDGES BENEFIT BOTH LLUMC AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Recycling your used ink cartridges is easy--just leave them in the rolling basket in the foyer and both LLUMC and the Environment benefit from your action! Your donations have averaged twenty monthly and that means $40 credit from Staples toward administrative supplies. And, if you do the math, that is $480 annually--not a huge deal but not to be ignored, either. The benefits to the landfill are substantial so this effort definitely qualifies as a "two-for".
So, while we all get a pat on the back for what we have done, let's work toward increasing the number of cartridges. Perhaps your office or another organization you work with is trashing their cartridges? Bring them to the cart in the foyer. All brands are accepted. Thank you for your continuing contributions.
