Pastor's Lent 2025 Book Study

The Lord's Prayer:
Confessing the New Covenant
by J. Warren Smith
Sessions Beginning March 6
We have all had the experience of being at church and hearing the pastor say, "And now with the confidence of children we are bold to pray, 'Our Father . . .'" but before we know it we are saying "for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen." We speak the words of the prayer, not from our hearts, but from the autopilot of memory. The Lord's Prayer: Confessing the New Covenant is not a Bible study in the traditional sense. It challenges us to think about the Lord's Prayer anew by understanding it as a confession of the New Covenant that Christ makes with us when we are made children of God in baptism. In hearing these familiar words afresh we learn to remember our baptismal covenant so that we might live more fully into that new relationship with God and with one another.
Sessions will be held:
-
Thursdays, 6:30pm (ZOOM) - Beginning March 6
- Mondays, 10:00am (In Person) - Beginning March 10

Wednesday Evening Bible Study [Co-Ed] - Wednesdays, 7:00pm (Zoom): Beginning MARCH 12th, the Wednesday Evening study will be reading Lent In Plain Sight by Jill J. Duffield. This study highlights objects each week, that we encounter in our daily living. Coins, shoes, crosses, oil, stones, bread, coats, towels, thorns and dust. These ten objects will enable us to see God everywhere, in all things, all creation, not just in these forty days of Lent, but everyday of our lives, if we open our senses to His holy presence Email the church office at LLUMC@L-LUMC.org for the zoom link.
Projects and Prayers [Women’s Group] - 1st & 3rd Thursdays, 10:00am (The Great Room): Get together in the Great Room for a morning of prayer and crafting! Projects support events throughout the year like Breakfast with St. Nick and the Easter Festival, as well as homebound and disconnected members.
